Morocco rewards drivers who take the long way around. Here are seven routes worth planning a trip around.

1. Tizi n'Tichka pass (Marrakech → Ouarzazate)

The classic switchback drive over the High Atlas. Allow four hours, stop at the viewpoints, and keep an eye out for slow trucks on the climbs.

2. The Atlantic Coast Road (Casablanca → Essaouira)

Three hours of ocean on your right and argan groves on your left. Best done in a convertible if you can swing it.

3. Dades Gorges loop

A morning of dramatic red cliffs and palm oases. Pair it with a night in a kasbah for the full picture.

Tip: All seven routes are paved and rental-friendly. Skip the off-road claims unless your rental explicitly allows it.

Booking a car for any of these takes about two minutes on the home page.
